Journalist killed in Peshawar

Unknown gunmen on Tuesday killed a local journalist when he was praying at a mosque in the northwest of the country, police said. Mukarram Khan Aatif, a 43-year-old correspondent with Deewa radio, was attacked at a mosque near his home in Shabqadar Town, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 30 kilometers north of Peshawar.
“The two attackers came on a motorbike, fired bullets at Aatif in the mosque and escaped. He suffered bullet wounds to the head,” local police officer Zahir Shah told media. Another police official confirmed the incident.
‘Diplomatic enclave’ in Peshawar considered

In a bid to upgrade security for foreign diplomats, authorities are planning on constructing a diplomatic enclave in the provincial capital to avoid terrorist attacks on sensitive installations and personnel of diplomatic missions.
Law enforcement agencies have not only been providing them with pilot squads but also with foolproof security at both their offices and residences.

Two killed, 28 injured in Peshawar explosion

wo people were killed and 28 others injured when a bomb exploded in the basement of a multi-storey plaza on the main University Road on Tuesday.
Cantonment Circle SP Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed said one man died on the spot and the other in hospital.
The injured were taken to the Khyber Teaching Hospital where six of them were said to be in critical condition.

Siranjam’s return to PML-N now unlikely

Saranjam Khan has been holding central positions in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) but his interest in the party has been mostly confined to local politics, or to be precise, to his native Mardan district.
For months now he has been leading a group of party dissidents angered by the appointments of PML-N office-bearers in Mardan. He was unhappy when the party head Nawaz Sharif appointed Inayat Bacha and Nawabzada Arsala Khan Hoti as the president and general secretary, respectively, of the PML-N chapter in Mardan.

FATA Intelligence official shot dead in Peshawar

An Assistant Director of the Intelligence Bureau, FATA, Sairajuddin Khan was gunned down by unknown men on the Dora road in Peshawar on Tuesday evening.
Shot within Yaqatoot Police Station remits, Khan was leaving a mosque after offering his evening prayers when he was fired upon by unknown men, police said. SSP Operations, Tahir Ayub told The Express Tribune that the intelligence official sustained injuries in his head and neck. “Three gunshots were heard, and the official sustained injuries in his head and neck,” he added.
